The worship ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel exists to help spread a passion for the supremacy and sufficiency of Christ in all things.

Worship is the term we use to cover all the acts of the heart, mind, and body that express the infinite worth of God. This general term is made more specific in our “worship services.” We sing songs, bring tithes, hear and obey God’s Word, and reorient our lives based on God’s infinite worth.

We define worship very simply as knowing God, and then adoring Him as a response. It is this “spirit and truth” worship that God deserves, and these are the worshipers that He is seeking. (John 4:23-24) In fact, everything we do at Harvest is ultimately designed toward the goal of creating more and better worshipers of God. Our church gathers to worship God corporately on the weekend, and then scatters the rest of the week to worship Him wherever He has placed us.

Vertical: Our services are designed with an intentional focus on the transcendent glory of God. (Exodus 33:18)

Transformative: Our services are designed with an understanding that true transformation is not the result of clever planning of men, but rather an encounter with the Almighty God. (1 Corinthians 14:25)

Bible Saturated: The content of our singing, praying and preaching will always conform to the truth of Scripture. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Both Head and Heart: Our services will both appeal to clear thinking about spiritual things and seek to inspire passionate authentic emotions towards God. (Matthew 22:37)

Transparent: We want the greatness of God to shine through our worship rather than a focus on the Worship Team.  We pursue excellence as a means to avoid distraction rather than as an end to itself.  (Psalm 115:1)

Contemporary Without Compromise:  We encourage passionate and expressive worship declared through musical styles of today, yet grounded firmly in the timeless truths of God’s Word.  (Psalm 33:3)

At Harvest, corporate worship is highly participatory. We invite our people to worship with passion and energy. We don’t want to be lazy or lethargic when it comes time to worship. Instead, we want to be enthusiastic and demonstrative. Scripture allows for a great deal of freedom in worship (clapping, kneeling, raising hands, etc.), but we should never lose sight of the object of our worship—we worship God through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit.

Emotions are an acceptable part of worship, but should never be manipulated or fabricated. Healthy and appropriate expressions of emotion are part of what it means to worship genuinely in the Spirit.

The Bible is the ultimate authority when it comes to worship. At Harvest, therefore, we strive to worship in truth—the truth of who God is as revealed in Scripture. Strict attention is paid to theological content, ensuring that every lyric that is sung, every word spoken, and every art form expressed is biblically sound and supported. We also look to God’s Word to discern how God desires to be worshiped rather that follow the wisdom of man or the latest cultural fad.

Finally, we’re committed to being “true worshipers”—those who worship in spirit and truth. As the Lord scans the planet “seeking such people to worship him,” may he see and hear in us a people who are serious about worshiping him – people who really mean business when it comes time to worship.
